Chem-Plug® valves are offered in a sleeved taper plug design.
This design is suitable for on/off and light throttling applications in process
temperatures ranging from -20°F to 450°F.

Construction materials include ductile iron, carbon steel, CF8M stainless, and other alloys in sizes ½” through 6”.

Standard valves can be ordered in ANSI 300# threaded as well as ANSI 150# or 300# flanged end models.

As standard, SMG Valves manufactures two basic stem seal designs - diaphragm and v-style. The diaphragm stem seal utilizes a reverse lip design to act as both a passive and dynamic seal around the valve stem. The inside of the lip fits over the stem creating a tight dynamic seal that is achieved by utilizing process pressure to force the lip tighter as pressure increases.

The solid sleeve is compression molded and sintered to provide optimum density which minimizes chemical permeation.  This feature assures that the sleeve will not deform during thermal cycling within the temperature limits of the  sleeve material which ensures a long, leak-free life cycle.

For more hazardous services, Chem-Plug® valves are also offered in v-series stem seal.  This seal utilizes several rings of packing in a true stuffing box design with independent adjustment capability.  This design offers a repeatable positive stem seal with a constant torque curve.

All Chem-Plug® sleeved valves feature adjustable plugs to compensate for normal wear and the resultant internal leakage.  V-series top seal models offer an independent adjustment for the packing, ensuring that the plug and packing can be adjusted independently of each other.  No longer will you be forced to adjust both when only one is leaking.  This eliminates unwanted plug wear and resultant high torque when you only need to adjust the packing.

Raised sealing rings are cast 360° around the port openings for positive seating under pressure, vacuum and temperature cycling. For redundancy, blowout lips are cast adjacent to the port openings to prevent sleeve rotation and reduce sleeve cold flow.

Sleeve materials include PTFE, glass-filled PTFE, Ryton and UHMW.

Chem-Plug® valves meet API 607 requirements for external leakage and API 598 seat and shell testing requirements. The valves are offered for special services, including multiport, jacketed, chlorine prepared, fire-safe, fully automated, and double block and bleed. All standard flanged valves conform to ANSI B16.34 and the face-to-face requirements of API 6D (short pattern), API 603, and ANSI B16.10.

SMG Valves can also offer certain custom features on its Chem-Plug® valves including specially fabricated valves, special face-to-face requirements and fully-automated valves among other requests. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, please contact us.
