CHEM-PLUG®
FULLY LINED VALVES

Chem-Plug® fully lined valves are available in both diaphragm top-seal and V-ring stem seal configurations. Both are available in 150 and 300 lb. ANSI flanged end connections. Chem-Plug®lined valves have been designed for general use in process industries, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, textiles, water treatment plants, and other similar applications. These valves, with special preparation, can also be used for severe chemical service such as oxygen, chlorine, hydrofluoric acid, vacuum service or slurry applications.

The molding process used to line the ductile iron body provides a uniform 1/8 inch thickness of fluoropolymer on the wetted surfaces. The plug lining is rigidly locked into place by holes through the plug itself. Dovetail grooves and locking rings at several locations in the body prevent shrinkage and blowout lining.

All Chem-Plu® lined valves feature an adjustable plug to compensate for normal wear. To prevent the buildup of a static electrical charge on the plug, a grounding spring is standard.

DIAPHRAGM TOP SEAL MODELS

The diaphragm top seal used in Chem-Plug® lined valves is formed the same way as those used in our sleeved valves. The PFA is hot formed in such a way that it does not want to return to its original shape. This lack of “memory,” along with the metal diaphragm and thrust disc, assures a positive seal against the stem, even under sever thermal cycling.

The diaphragm has enough flexibility to compensate for any plug adjustments that may be necessary during the life of the valve. The stainless steel backup diaphragm provides additional support for the PFA diaphragm for longer and more reliable service life at elevated temperatures.

With special tools, the diaphragm top seal can be replaced without removing the valve from the piping. Consult the factory for the availability of these tools.

V-RING TOP SEAL MODELS

The Chem-Plug® fully lined valves with V-ring top seal are particularly suitable for critical and severe service applications. In addition to the protection the lining gives all the wetted surfaces of the valve, these valves have a true stuffing box for top seal packing and gland adjustment for positive control of leakage of hazardous substances by the stem.

Chem-Plug® lined valves with V-ring top seal can be adjusted without affecting the seal of the lined plug against the body lining. This feature also minimizes changes in the operating torque of the valve.

Chem-Plug® lined valves with V-ring top seal are supplied with PTFE packing.
